Meet and Greet on Tues., May 24th 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
We have exciting news and we are thrilled to share it with you! The Carlton Extension team is adding two new Educators and we invite you to join us on Tuesday, May 24th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at the Extension Office to welcome them. Stop in and say hello, tour the office and enjoy some refreshments. Both of our new staff members have been involved with Carlton County Extension in the past. Register now for Strategic Farming: Field Notes
Registration is open for the Strategic Farming: Field Notes program. The Field Notes program is designed for farmers and agricultural professionals as a weekly webinar program addressing all your crop-related questions in real-time in an interactive, discussion-based format.
The Field notes program will begin on May 11th and will continue throughout the 2022 growing season on a weekly basis from 8:00 – 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday mornings.

2022 Minnesota summer beef tour - Tuesday, July 12, 2022
Stops on the tour include the UMN Andrew Boss Laboratory of Meat Science, UMN College of Veterinary Medicine, and UMN Forage Research plots. The tour includes a visit to the Minnesota Zoo where attendees will have exclusive access to the entire zoo from 4 to 8p.m.
Check in begins at 6 a.m. All buses leave from the Minnesota Zoo at 7 a.m. Please visit z.umn.edu/MNSummerBeefTour for more information and to register. Tickets are $25 prior to June 15th. Lunch and supper are included.

Introducing Katie Laveau!
We are pleased to announce Katie Laveau as welcome our new 4-H Extension Educator. Katie grew up in Carlton County and took part in Carlton County 4-H program. She was involved in many general project areas along with showing rabbits, sheep, and horses. She also took part as a County Ambassador and a State Ambassador. She was a 4-H intern in Carlton County for two summers and has had positions in the past couple of years that have educated and helped youth succeed. She graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in animal science business and production and agricultural leadership in 2019. She is excited to give other youth the experiences that she had as a 4-Her.
Meet Mercedes Moffett
Growing up in Carlton on her family’s beef farm sparked a love of animals and interest in agriculture for Mercedes Moffett. She earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science from North Dakota State University and is working on the completion of a veterinary technician degree from Dakota County Technical College. Mercedes has experience as an Extension intern, interim Extension educator and has provided her agricultural expertise to the Extension Farm Information Line. Welcome Mercedes!
